SS · SOFT STARTER

Select by motor current, voltage and starting duty.

Motor power is only a preliminary reference. The motor nameplate current, load type, starts per hour, ramp duty, ambient temperature and altitude determine the final model.

NJR5-ZX voltage suffix map

NJR5-ZX is an in-line soft starter family. The suffix identifies the main-circuit voltage.

SuffixNominal voltagePermitted supply rangeRated insulation voltage
ZX2AC220 VAC198-264 VAC660 V
ZX3AC380 VAC323-437 VAC660 V
ZX4AC460 VAC414-504 VAC1000 V
ZX5AC575 VAC517-633 VAC1000 V
ZX6AC690 VAC621-759 VAC1000 V
Model code: The number before the suffix is the model-frame current, while the actual rated current in the table may be lower. Example: NJR5-90/ZX3 has 84 A rated current.

Key models around common pump duties

ModelVoltageRated currentCatalog motor power

NJR5-110/ZX3AC380 V103 A55 kW
NJR5-150/ZX3AC380 V140 A75 kW
NJR5-90/ZX4AC460 V84 A55 kW
NJR5-110/ZX4AC460 V103 A75 kW
NJR5-150/ZX4AC460 V140 A90 kW
North American caution: A 100 hp, 460 V motor may have nameplate or code-table current above 103 A. Do not order NJR5-110/ZX4 from power alone; a 140 A model may be required after checking the actual FLA and duty.

NJR2-D and bypass duty

NJR2-D is a 380 V soft-starter family that requires an external bypass contactor. The bypass contactor, overload protection and short-circuit protection must be coordinated as one motor-starting system.

  • Confirm motor FLA instead of power only
  • Confirm starts per hour and start duration
  • Check whether the load is a pump, fan, conveyor or crusher
  • Apply temperature and altitude derating where required

Send the motor data. We will size the starting system.

Include voltage, FLA, application, starts per hour and the existing control diagram.
